Limited Brands wins the Susan G. Komen team challenge awards for the most participants in Columbus and Rio Rancho  With more than 4,000 Limited Brands' participants, Columbus, Ohio and Rio Rancho, New Mexico, associates achieve a milestone in support of a cure for breast cancer. Limited Brands' associates from Columbus and Rio Rancho along with more than 40,000 race participants in these communities, helped to raise awareness in the fight against breast cancer at this year's Susan G. Komen "Race for the Cure."
This year marks the ninth year that Limited Brands has partnered with Komen Columbus to support this important cause. As a corporate sponsor of Komen Columbus, Limited Brands exceeded its participation this year with an additional 800 in Columbus for a total of 3,700 participants and more than an additional 70 in Rio Rancho for a total of 450.
In recognition for having the largest corporate sponsored teams, Susan G. Komen presented Limited Brands with its seventh team challenge award in Columbus and its fifth in Rio Rancho. Limited Brands' associates also participate in the Komen New York Race, as well as, the American Cancer Society Making Strides Walk in Kettering, Ohio.
"It is such a great feeling to have exceeded our participant record again this year both in Columbus and Rio Rancho," said Janelle Simmons, manager of community relations, Limited Brands. "Our associates understand the importance of raising awareness to educate people about breast cancer and the importance of funding research so there will one day be a cure. Many of us have been personally touched in some way whether it's been a family member, a friend or colleague who has battled this disease. This is a wonderful way for us to honor those individuals." |
